Ski for Sight

This is a program for people who are visually impaired. Our club teams up with other clubs in the Southwest Region of District 1-J to host a welcome wine and cheese party, followed by snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and bowling. Shabbona State Park is the site of the outdoor activities. DeKalb is the sight of the indoor activities.

The Sandwich Lions Club serves hot chocolate and coffee in the warming hut each year. We also provide other snacks. The park maintenance shed, located at the south end of the park, is used for the warming hut. It is often filled with skiers and their guides who come inside to warm up after their outside activities.
